Check out our new Aging and Memory Mobile Clinic
Our new Aging and Memory Mobile Clinic is the only mobile unit in the country dedicated to memory screenings for people of color.
Its mission is to increase health equity for the African American, East African and Hmong communities. It also will allow us to expand our services in St. Paul, MN where many in the Hmong community live. Hereâs the initial coverage of the initiative in the areaâs most prominent African American publication the Spokesman-Recorder.
âMany people are hesitant when they hear the words âmemory screeningâ because they donât want to find out that they have memory loss,â noted Caregiver Coordinator Mayla Yang. âWe reassure them that we are there only to raise awareness and to encourage people to reach out to their care provider for further assessment.â Dr. Kevin Brown, a neurologist, was present at both initial events for the mobile clinic to provide one-on-one consultation after patientsâ memory screening results.
The Mobile Clinic is funded by a combination of grants, including MN Department of Human Services, the federal Administration for Community Living, MN Board on Aging, and the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging.
